A NATO regulation is not intended to be freely distributed by , or is directly classified as classified information.

In the case of unclassified regulations (NATO UNCLASSIFIED), the applicant may contact the Department of Administrative and Physical Security of the NSA to request the provision of such a document. The application shall justify how the information requested relates to the subject matter of the applicant’s activity. At the same time, a valid postal contact for the applicant must be indicated. After considering the merits of the application, the requested regulation (in its original version) may be provided.

In the case of classified regulations, the request for release shall state, in addition to justifying how the information requested relates to the subject matter of the applicant's activity, whether the applicant is authorised to have access to NATO classified information of the appropriate classification level.

Following the decision of the NATO Security Committee, the following NATO information security regulations may be publicly published.
